Eri Makita was born in Chiba, Japan in 1968. Her interest for photography and gelatin silver print technics began after she had graduated in mathematics at the Women’s University of Tokyo in 1992 at the age of 25.
In 1994, she had moved to Paris and met several photographers as Jun Shiraoka. She carefully studied printing technics, and affirmed since then a strong interest for printing et will always take a particular care in her print’s quality. She currently lives and works in Chiba.
Her photographs have been exhibited many times in Japan, in Europe, during the Rencontres d’Arles and has also been featured in many books and magazines, such as Asahi Camera and Nippon Camera.
Her photographes has entered several private and public collections, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, l’Okinawa Prefectural Museum & Art Museum.
